EZGo for Pocket PC v3.1 Online Manual

Getting started - setting your home time city:

Starting EZGo for the first time, you should set the home time of where you live. Tap the top left icon, and select the city of your home. If the city name isn't in the list, you can add the name to the list by using the Cities Manager.


There're ten applications within EZGo:

  1. Time Manager
  2. Itinerary Manager
  3. Expense Manager
  4. Cities Manager
  5. Map Manager
  6. Currency/Tip Calculator
  7. Unit Conversions
  8. Travel Information Database
  9. Talking Album (use "Tools>Talking Album" to invoke this application)
  10. Sun Compass (use "Tools>Sun Compass" to invoke this application)


Time Manager
Time Display:
Time Display is very useful to determine the time of a city at a glance. It consists of 4 or 5 clocks depending on the time display mode you choose. Currently EZGo provides three time display modes: normal view, day & night view, and classic view. A tap on or icon will pop up the "Time Zone Setting" dialog.
In the "Time Zone Setting" dialog, user can set city and time display format (AM/PM format or Military format).
Alarm Setting:
A tap on icon will pop up the "Alarm Setting" dialog. User can set a specific city for the alarm, signal frequency, and the alarm sound file (.wav file). If you choose to have a sound file as your alarm clock sound, use the "Browse..." button to get the sound file on your PDA. Then you can listen to it before set the sound file as the default.

If the alarm is on, an animated icon will be displayed on bottom of the screen. (Note: The alarm function is for registered users only.)

Itinerary Manager
The Trips Window displays all of the itineraries that user has on file.
  • To add an itinerary, tap the ADD button.
  • To edit an itinerary, select it in the list and then tap the EDIT button.
  • To delete an itinerary, select it in the list and then tap the DELETE button.

In the "Itinerary Details" dialog, user can set details for the following transporation methods, hotel information, and car rental information:
  1. Flight
  2. Train
  3. Cruise/Ferry
  4. Bus
  5. Hotel
  6. Car Rental
Use can also move up or move down any segment:
  1. Select the segment
  2. Tap "Move Up" or "Move Dn" button
For example, user can set the flight details: Trip destination, E-Ticket number, Departure date & time, Arrival date & time, Airport, Airline, Flight number, Seat number, and Confirmation number.
EZGo would write the flight details information into Calendar at the same time as shown in the left three figures.
To add/edit any notes for the itinerary, tap "Notes ..." button.
To review the summary of the itinerary, tap "Summary ..." button.

In "Summary Dialog", user can tap "Output to File..." button to output summary to "\My Documents" folder.

Expense Manager
The user must have at least one itinerary (Trip Name) before entering any expense data. To add an itinerary, please see "Itinerary Manager" above.

To enter an expense entry:
  1. Select "Trip Name" first.
  2. Tap "Add" button to go to "Expense Detail" dialog. (please see figure below)

Then enter expense data in this dialog.

To add a category, just enter the category name in the "Category" field and tap "OK" button. EZGo will add this new category name to category database. To remove a category name, select the category name first, then tap "Del. Cat. Name" button.
  • : Personal Expense
  • : Business Expense
Left figure shows the following information:
  • Three expense entries in this trip
  • Two personal expenses and one business expense
  • Total amount is USD$113.44 (The use can change expense type and select any currency to see different amounts. EZGo uses the current currency database file to show the results to the user.)
To export expense data to Excel .csv files, tap "Export ..." button in the "Expense" dialog. The user can select to output personal expense only, business expense only, or all data to .csv file. (Note: The Export function is for registered users only.)

Cities Manager
The Cities Manager is where you add, edit, or delete records from the Cities Database. It provides user with information more than 400 cities. User can add, edit, or delete any city that he needs.
  • To add a city, tap the ADD button.
  • To edit a city, select it in the list and then tap the EDIT button.
  • To delete a city, select it in the list and then tap the DELETE button.

Every city record includes city name, country name, phone country code, phone city code, airport code, latitude and longitude information, time zone information, and daylight saving time details.

Map Manager
The Map Manager uses day and night world map to show you mileage information between any two places, sunrise time, and sunset time information. As shown in the left figure, the distance between Los Angeles and New York is 2444.8 miles. The sunrise time in Los Angeles is 6:05am on Aug. 1. And it's 5:53am in New York. The exact locations of these two places are also displayed on the map by blinking icons.
EZGo provides two world maps that user can tap "Chg Map" to toggle these two maps.

Currency/Tip Calculator
This is a calculator with currency conversion function, plus Tip and Tax functions. The currency database consists of about 200 currencies. To use it:
  1. Tap any currency button that you want.
  2. Use it as a standard calculator.
  3. Tap Tax button to calculate the total amount.
  4. Tap Tip button to add tip to the amount if necessary.
  5. Tap other currency button to see its equivalent currency value. (see example below)
For example:
As shown in the figures, 56.3 USD is equal to 87.745411 CAD (based on 1 CAD = 0.641629 USD).
In the "Currency Exchange Setting" dialog, user can set 5 currency rates, Tip rate, and Tax rate (sales tax; value added tax).

If your Pocket PC can connect to the Internet, you can update currency data any time. Just tap "Download" button and EZGo can update the data automatically. (Note: this function is for registered users only.)

Unit Conversions
User can use Unit Conversions to convert an amount measured in one unit into an amount in other units.
There are 6 categories in Unit Conversions: temperature, length, weight, area, volume, and cooking.

Travel Information Database
Some useful information is included in this database:

  • Visa toll-free numbers
  • MasterCard toll-free numbers
  • Women's dresses and suits sizes
  • Women's shoes sizes
  • Men's suits and overcoats sizes

  • Men's shoes sizes
  • Men's socks sizes
  • Children's clothes sizes

Talking Album
Why not bring a talking photo with you during the trip? Listen to the voices of your beloved ones, or hear your favorite sound.
How to do it?
  1. Select "Tools>Settings..."
  2. Select the photo file and sound file that you like by clicking "Browse..." buttons
  3. Tap "OK" Button
  4. Select "Tools>Talking Album" to see the photo
  5. Tap any point on the photo will play sound

Note: the best size for the photo is 240x268. EZGo can read .jpg, .gif, .bmp, .2bp, and .xbm files.

Sun Compass
The user can use this function to easily determine the North direction while traveling:
  1. Select the city first
  2. Orient your Pocket PC towards the Sun
